Perillo Tours (the parent company of ItalyVacations) had the vision and scope of building a content-rich travel-package and reservations' CMS (Content Management System). Drupal was CMS framework of choice because of the flexibility and ease of customization. The booking tool to be integrated was provided by HTS. The challenge and objective was to realize the vision of a feature-rich CMS for the content creators, and provide a seamless and content-rich experience for the end-user.

I translated the scope document into a working Drupal CMS implementation with a well structured feature-set adjusted for each staff role, and built an engaging UI theme based on an approved design mock. I made a clean and seamless integration of the Drupal content repository and the HTS booking system by building an XML template interface that allows HTS to query Drupal for any piece of information and nicely integrate that information with any stage of the booking process.

This implementation of Drupal showcases the ability of the CMS application to be closely integrated with other applications using industry-standard formats such as XML. Although this implementation was a custom solution to a specific set of needs and features, it was implemented without compromising performance or User Experience.
